Only a few know about the Veilians, I believe, and I think I've developed them enough to tell you all about them and the story I have so far. . c:

Basically, the Veilians are an alien species, native to the planet Vale. They're beings of energy, able to manipulate it and such, and have different sorts of abilities.

Their 'skin' is metallic-ish in appearance, and close to insect's chitinous exoskeletons, but much more flexible. It isn't extraneously hard for one of their own kind to crack it, because of their enhanced strength. Veilians are physically superior to humans, but average among their own kind. Their 'blood' is a special energy unique to their species and wildlife. They are creatures of energy; they still harbor organs such as lungs, a heart, brain, stomach, bones, muscle etc., but they function entirely different to the way humans' do. They still have the same purpose, but using energy instead of blood. </b>

Veilians always have a gemstone that they are born with, that eventually emerges from their bodies a few weeks after 'birth'. It always has a shape to it, and can be any colour, and any shape. It's practically invulnerable and cannot be broken. If separated from its owner, he or she is always able to locate it by instinct and does not harbor any weakness from it. Distance is no matter, as long as it exists, its owner always benefits from it. Though Veilian custom is to keep the stone, and when the stone is expelled from the body, it would be turned into some piece of accessory he or she will be able to wear.

Veilians are capable of flight. Their wings are made of energy, and depending on the Veilian's genetics, it will take on a certain shape. Though made of energy, the Veilian is unable to alter the wings' appearance, colour, shape, or physiology. Wider wings are made for long distance and endurance, thinner wings are made for speed and agility. Wings can be torn and injured, and is solid. The Veilian controls its luminosity. Wings can have wings of any shape, size or form, though it's uncommon or rare to have other than bird wings, bat wings or insectoid wings. The color depends on whether the Veilian is a Surfacer or Medium. Wings appear about a year after birth, and are very tiny. They grow out as they age and are fit for actual flight at around age 7. It depends on genetics and young Veilians can be early or late bloomers with their flight wings. When not ready, all the wings are capable of is temporary hovering. Parents encourage this as an exercise, hoping to strengthen the child's wings. </b>

The Veilians always have a Zodiac sign on their forehead. A Veilian cannot live without its mark. A signless Veilian is a dead Veilian. There are no special cases whatsoever. There are twelve signs; Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Saggitarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. The signs usually give certain attributes the children are born with, but when set to it, can gain the profession and abilities of another. They are just naturally skilled in the abilities the sign they were born with gives them. It doesn't predetermine anything.

Veilians can have pets, and animal companions vary. I'm still in the process of creating these, and one I've made so far is a Tyrex, a serpent creature with four wings that Veilians have as flying mounts, even if they can fly themselves. Tyrex are usually used to carry heavier things, injured Veilians, and those unable to fly. Will post a ref soon.

Veilians can wear anything and clothes of any style they want. They're usually of the typical fantasy character style, with a touch of sci-fi. Their technology is more organic based, not like the typical star wars and star trek stuff. This is where the stone comes in handy. Remember, everything is made of energy. Their stones can convert their armor into a mist-like state and absorb it, allowing the owner to suit up whenever needed. (Not sure about this yet, a lot of things are still in development.)

There are two major types of Veilians: Surfacers and Medians. There are four layers to planet Vale. All government operations and base is located in the core, above that lies the laboratories, then the Medium, and the Surface.
The way you can tell them apart is quite obvious.

Surfacers have lighter skins, being up on the surface and in the sunlight. They're more sophisticated. They prefer to fight with valor and honor, rather than the Median's way of sneaking about and striking from behind. Their wings are white or light grey.

This will be the story my persona follows, and I will make a comic of it or at least write a story plot when I have time. So for my close friends, I'd love to ask for an opportunity to create a Veilian story, :'D And it shall be canon! (Not everyone will actually play a role in the story! If I cannot fit yours into the story, then you'll still be in it, maybe appearing in the background or acting as a passerby. c: )

NAME: Name.
AGE: Age...
SIGN: One of the twelve signs. It would be better if it was your actual sign, but it doesn't have to be. (Sign doesn't determine character; you can make him/her however you want.)
GENDER: Girl? Boy? Both?
ABILITIES: Just any abilities or skills your Veilian has.
BIO: Short story on your character's backstory.
ELEMENT(Optional): Fire, water, earth, all that jazz. Some are rarer than the others, though.
EYE/BLOOD COLOUR: Eye colour/Blood colour.
WINGS: Either white bird wings or black bat wings. You can ask for special cases, c: I don't want too many, though.

ABILITIES: Archery, Parkour, Stealth (There are more but I got lazy.)

NOTES:
SKIN: Veilian skin colour varies from white to black and anything in between. If you want you can make it a slight tint of a colour. Veilian skin is like plates, as if the human muscles were plates. I'll upload a ref soon.
